ACCOUNTABILITY LAB INCUBATOR
Launched in 2015, the Accountability Incubator has been a driving force behind strengthening emerging leaders and organizations to champion social accountability. The 2023 cohort brought innovative solutions to pressing local challenges.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Tailored Training: Participants engaged in a co-created curriculum addressing practical topics such as legal compliance, advocacy, and impact measurement, ensuring they were equipped for success.
Impactful Projects: Incubator participants implemented initiatives addressing youth entrepreneurship, environmental health, and digital literacy, making tangible improvements in their communities.
Sustained Mentorship: Over 12 months, the program provided ongoing coaching and support, fostering lasting change and strengthening grassroots leadership.
NED CIVIC AND VOTERS EDUCATION PROJECT: ENGAGING THE ELECTORATE
In 2023, the NED Civic and Voters Education Project focused on educating Liberia’s electorate—especially youth, women, and first-time voters—on the importance of informed decision-making and peaceful electoral participation.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Wide-Reaching Engagement: Accountability Lab Liberia’s field team reached over 1 million people across six key counties, using creative approaches such as musical performances, radio dramas, and social media to share messages of nonviolence and electoral participation.
Youth-Centered Outreach: Engaging performances by popular comedian Future Doe and interactive street events helped simplify the electoral process, encouraging young people to engage in democratic practices.
LIBERIA ELECTION MONITORING: ENSURING FREE, FAIR, AND TRANSPARENT ELECTIONS
Accredited by the National Elections Commission in 2023, Accountability Lab Liberia played a key role in monitoring the presidential and legislative elections, ensuring that the process was transparent, accountable, and reflective of the will of the people.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Comprehensive Monitoring: The Lab implemented eight internationally recognized indicators to observe critical election activities in five counties, ensuring that voting, ballot handling, and the overall process adhered to international standards for fairness and integrity.
Impact on Electoral Integrity: The Lab’s election monitoring and civic engagement efforts contributed to a noticeable reduction in invalid votes during the runoff election, reinforcing the importance of community education and active voter involvement.
